Japanese luxury automaker Acura announced on Thursday that it will be issuing a limited number of NFTs to mark the launch of the 2023 Acura Integra.

The original Integra helped launch the Acura brand in 1986 and was available in both coupe and sedan styles. The next-gen 2023 Integra comes as a compact premium sports sedan with a five-door design.

The Integra NFT features art exclusively designed by 3D artist Andreas Wannerstedt and is available to the first 500 buyers of the physical 2023 Acura Integra. The artwork depicts a gold Acura Integra placed on a platform floating on water, backdropped by a mountainous landscape.

Customers who reserve a 2023 Acura Integra will have a chance to claim their base NFT, which will be upgraded to a unique Integra NFT upon delivery of the purchased vehicle.

Along with the announcement of the NFT, Acura has also announced its entry into the metaverse with a virtual showroom on Decentraland. Fans can tour the virtual showroom while exploring the 2023 Integra.

Visitors are not required to own the Integra NFT to enter the showroom on Decentraland. To promote its metaverse ventures, Acura will launch a mixed media campaign throughout the March Madness NCAA college basketball tournament.

The campaign will be broadcast during various championship games on CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV. It will also be featured on various digital platforms, with digital display and high impact takeovers running on the websites of ESPN and CBS Sports.

Acura joins Lamborghini and Alfa Romeo in issuing NFTs for vehicles. The former launched its Lamborghini Space Key NFT project with an undisclosed artist in January, while the latter is integrating NFT and blockchain technology into the the Tonale SUV.
